Michele McNicol – CEO

Michele McNichol grew up in the oil and gas industry, always intrigued by her father’s career in oil & gas.  Following in his footsteps, she obtained an engineering degree and embarked on an exciting career of her own, traveling around the world and working on world-class oil & gas projects.  Now, with nearly 30 years of experience in the oil & gas industry, Michele is Chief Executive Officer (CEO) ofWood Group Asset Life Cycle Solutions – West, which was formed in July 2016 following the consolidation of Wood Group’s businesses.

Michele oversees almost 13,000 employees who provide projects and modifications, operations and maintenance, industrial, pipeline and decommissioning services throughout the Americas.  She serves on Wood Group’s Executive Leadership Team.  

Michele was appointed CEO of Wood Group Mustang in 2015, having served previously as executive vice president for the operations of its offshore, onshore, oil sands and pipeline operations worldwide. She was a key leader in the internationalization of the offshore business and those efforts resulted in half of Wood Group Mustang’s employees and revenue generation coming from outside of the U.S.  

Since joining Wood Group in 2001, Michele has served in various roles including president of Wood Group Mustang’s upstream business unit and as regional director for the Americas, where she was responsible for upstream operations across North and South America. Her tenure includes high-profile industry projects, including her role as Wood Group Mustang’s project manager for BP Thunder Horse, the world’s largest semi-submersible production facility.

Michele started her career as a process engineer with Amoco Production Company before joining ABB Randall. At Randall, she served as a process engineer, project engineer and ultimately a project manager. She was involved in many projects with the full range of EPC scopes from engineering studies to full execution models from concept through start-up including management of direct hire fabrication and construction.

Michele holds a B. S. in chemical engineering from Texas A&M University and is a registered professional engineer in the state of Texas. She is also a certified Project Management Professional. She is a member of the Texas A&M University College of Architecture Dean’s Advisory Council, the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and the Project Management Institute.  She is the 2016 chair of CEOs Against Cancer for the Gulf Coast Chapter of the American Cancer Society.

A native of Oklahoma, Michele has three children. She is very involved in her children’s education and activities, volunteering many hours through activities such as Junior Achievement, Science Labs, Reading Enrichment and Girl Scouts.
