Charles E. (Chuck) Nagel, III

Burnett Oil

Like many of you, Chuck Nagel has a long, distinguished history in the Oil and Gas Industry.   His developed expertise in Geology, combined with natural leadership abilities, and managerial techniques obtained throughout his career, have built an esteemed resume that has aptly benefited the companies he has led. A native Texan, born in Amarillo, and raised in the Clear Lake area just south of Houston, Chuck’s interest in geology started as a young boy.  His grandfather had an extensive rock collection, and was a self-taught rock expert.  He shared his enthusiasm for his hobby with Chuck and thus, a geologist was born.  Chuck attended the University of Houston, where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Geology.  He started his career at Pennzoil, based in Houston, and led a successful drilling schedule in the Norphlet trend.   His resume includes Amerada Hess, and Hilcorp Energy, with increasing levels of responsibility. When his daughter, LeeAnn, started college at TCU, frequent visits to Fort Worth bred an interest in the possibility of moving there.  An opportunity became available at Wagner Oil that made living in Fort Worth a reality.  In 2005, Chuck transitioned to Wagner Oil as Vice President of Exploration and Development.  Chuck joined Burnett Oil in March of 2012 as Vice President of Exploration.  His abilities earned him great respect throughout the company and he was appointed Executive Vice President in January of 2014. In September 2014, upon Bill Pollard stepping down as President, Chuck accepted the role as President of Burnett Oil Company.   His love for the company and astute penchant for business has already left quite an impression within the company and with those he has encountered outside Burnett.  Chuck is an active member of Fort Worth Wildcatters, the Fort Worth Geological Society, American Association of Petroleum Geologists, Houston Geological Society, along with several other industry organizations. He is very active in his church holding various roles, past and present, including: Stewardship Chairman, Finance Committee, Staff Parish Relations, and Board of Trustees.   Chuck and his wife, Sheila, reside in Aledo, where he enjoys various activities such as hunting, tennis, and traveling.
