Leigh-Ann Russell – VP Performance Global Wells, BP

Leigh-Ann is accountable for all the business processes that deliver BP’s wells operations globally. This includes performance, planning, finance, risk, strategy, reporting and management systems.

Leigh-Ann joined the oil and gas industry in 1997 after graduating from Aberdeen University with a degree in mechanical engineering. She worked for several industry-leading companies before joining BP as a completion engineer for BP’s Clair field, in the North Sea, in 2005. Prior to taking up the role of VP performance in 2013, Leigh-Ann’s most recent roles have been as Completions Manager, Drilling Engineering Manager and Operations Manager.

Leigh-Ann has a broad engineering, operational and leadership experience across drilling, completion and intervention activity and has travel led extensively with her career. She has been recognized by the Houston Business Journal’s 40 under 40 awards and has been the recipient of the SPE Regional Distinguished Service Award Completions Optimization and Technology.

Leigh-Ann is a diversity champion within BP and has been a long-time supporter of women’s career development in the energy industry. She is also on the executive committee of the BP Supplier diversity board and an active member of BP’s Million Women Mentors STEM initiative and GWO’s Women in Wells initiative.

She currently resides in Houston, Texas with her daughter.
